The birds are back. I saw my first spring robin. I saw two of them actually. As I walked my old dog down the sidewalk, I was acutely aware of the additional birds in the neighborhood. I feed the ones that don’t fly south all winter. I know them. They hang out in or around my yard. This morning everyone’s front lawn is alive with chirps and birds and feathers! I regard the beginning of spring as when I first spot an orange breasted robin. I was shocked to see one this morning and even more surprised to see a second one. The birds were all chirping as if to announce that they are back! Maybe the groundhog was right. Maybe we will have an early spring. Today is February 21. It is cloudy and dreary outside. Looks like the midst of winter . . . until you notice the birds.
